The Life and Letters of Lewis Carroll is not dated but is believed to be the first edition second issue published in circa 1899. Stuart Dodgson Collingwood The Life and Letters of Lewis Carroll was published by T. Fisher Unwin in London and comes with the original green binding with bevelled front board and back board, gilt lettering and decoration to the front board, the pages are top edge gilt and with plain white front endpapers and rear endpapers.
The original green thick bevelled boards are decorated in gilt and bear gilt lettering to both the front board and to the spine. The back board is plain as required. The boards are in Good condition with fading to the spine, though the gilt is still very visible; fading to the back board; some corner knocks; and broken internal hinges to the front and back boards (merely cosmetic since the boards are still firmly attached).
There are 448 numbered pages plus 12 pages of advertisements to the end of the book. The pages are top edge gilt. There is also an extensive 13 page biography (the last pages still not opened after more than one hundred years!), and a 4 page index to the end of the book. The pages are clean and firmly bound in and are in overall Very Good condition.
